SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane topped out in the 90s for only the 2nd time this year on Wednesday. However, that won't be the case for Thursday. Stormy weather is expected Thursday afternoon, which will be followed by some slightly cooler temperatures over the weekend. The shift in the weather pattern comes as a cut-off low pressure center over California moves into the region.
While a few showers are possibly Thursday morning, thunderstorms are more likely during the afternoon and evening and could cause some slow downs for the afternoon commute for those caught under the heavier downpours.
The threat for heavy rain late Thursday and into Friday are the reason for the Flood Watches in place across the Northwest. Low-lying and poor drainage areas are most susceptible but burn scar areas have the potential for flash flooding with the heavy rain falling on the steep terrain.
The chance of rain lingers through the weekend. Temperatures will hover close to 80 degrees both Saturday and Sunday under mostly sunny skies despite that chance of rain.
