SPOKANE, Wash. — A man died after he crashed his motorcycle into a car on Highway 291 one mile north of Spokane on Friday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, 25-year-old Christopher A. Midwell of Spokane died after his motorcycle crossed over the center line into the opposite lane of traffic and struck a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. Midwell was ejected from his motorcycle.

According to the WSP, the crash occurred at 2:59 a.m.

Midwell was pronounced dead at the scene, the WSP said. The driver of the cavalier, 23-year-old Thomas D. Strader, was injured and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center with injuries. No information has been released on the extent of his injuries.

The Spokane Regional Traffic Management Center tweeted at 7:14 a.m. that one lane each way had reopened on SR 291.
