SPOKANE, Wash. — Eastern Washington women's basketball loses the Big Sky Tournament championship game in heartbreaking fashion 61-59 to Portland State.
The Eagles played some close games in the tournament, and this was just one of them. It included an upset of three seed Idaho State in overtime of the quarterfinals and a game-winning shot from Jessica McDowell White in the semifinals to beat two seed Northern Colorado.
It seemed like there was more magic as McDowell-White hit a shot to tie the game at 59 with 20 seconds left. But Portland State's Desirae Hansen hit what would be the game-winner with just under three seconds left in regulation.
A win would have punched the Eagles ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1987.
Alissa Sealby and McDowell-White led the way for the Eagles in the loss. They had 15 and 14 points respectively.
