New security measures in place at Gonzaga's McCarthey Athletic Center

The new security measures include metal detection technology at all entrances and a clear bag policy.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga Athletics is implementing additional security measures at McCarthey Athletic Center for the upcoming season.

The new security measures include metal detection technology at all entrances and a clear bag policy.

People entering will be screened using walkthrough metal detectors or hand wands when needed.

These measures will be in effect beginning with Kraziness in the Kennel on October 6.

Gonzaga Athletics officials said the entry process may increase the time it takes to enter the building, so fans should arrive early or use designated express lanes intended for patrons without bags or large metal items like cameras or tablets.

Concealed weapons must be left at home. This restriction includes concealed weapon permit holders.
