A wildfire burning near Wenatchee has grown to nearly 3,400 acres. The Rocky Reach Fire is now 70 percent contained, according to InciWeb.

The brush fire broke out Friday night and forced the shut down of US 97-A between Wenatchee and Entiat until midday Saturday.

The growing fire moved closer to homes just north of Burch Mountain in Chelan County, threatening about 244 residents in the area. A Level 1 evacuation notice for the Burch Mountain neighborhood was lifted Monday.

Crews hope to have the wildfire contained by Thursday.

While roads are open, Washington State Patrol advises drivers to use caution when driving through the area since conditions are still extremely dry and windy.
