A 7th grade student at Assumption Parish School won KREM 2’s Credit 2 Kids Tuesday afternoon for recently completing his Eagle Scout project that involved him collecting furniture and household items for Catholic Charities Furniture Bank.
The items were donated to people and families in need.
Cooper Cervelli spent almost 200 hours on the project and collected 1,000 items.
Cervelli has volunteered his time and energy since finishing his Eagle Scout Project, collecting items for homeless teenagers for Crosswalk Teen Shelter and is saving up to go to Tanzania, one of the world’s poorest countries to do community service there.
“Cooper has always stepped up and graciously performed community service since he was a young boy,” his mother, Barbara Cervelli wrote in her nomination. “Cooper has a heart of gold and always puts people in need first.”
Congratulations to Cooper Cervelli!
Throughout the year, KREM 2 gives away $500 prizes to students and student organizations who give back. Credit 2 Kids past winners often have a wealth of volunteer experience, school leadership, and exert a positive influence over their fellow students.
