McMorris Rodgers among 14 Republicans who voted to override Trump's veto

The failed vote needed a two-thirds majority to override Trump's veto and block a national emergency declaration to provide funds for a border wall.

WASHINGTON — Two Washington State Republican Representatives voted to override President Trump's veto and block a national emergency declaration to provide funds for a border wall.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.) were two of the 248 representatives who voted to block the veto.

Only 14 Republicans voted to override Trump's veto.

The vote, which needed a two-thirds majority to override the veto and block the national emergency declaration, failed. In total, 248 representatives voted to override the veto, 181 voted against overriding the veto and three did not vote.

Dan Newhouse (R-Wash), who represents the state's 4th District, was the only representative from Washington state to vote against overriding the veto. The state's Democratic representatives all voted to override the veto.

McMorris Rodgers had previously voted against the national emergency regarding the border wall in February, saying in a statement at the time that she was "100 percent in favor or President Trump's wall," but that she was voting against it on constitutional grounds.
