Six-acre wildfire near Winthrop fully contained

Fire crews have responded to a wildfire in the Winthrop area Wednesday, according to Okanogan County Emergency Management officials.

WINTHROP, Wash. – Fire crews have fully contained a six-acre wildfire that burned parts of the Winthrop area Wednesday, according to Okanogan County Emergency Management officials.

Officials said the fire was moving south along Bear Creek Road, heading towards Prospect Road. At 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, crews were working to mop up the area.

Electric power in the area was shut off for safety reasons and first responders notified residents of the fire. Officials said Wednesday night that crews were working to get the power back on.

No evacuation notices were issued.
