I-90 shut down just east of Kittitas due to 58,000-acre fire

Officials are calling it the Boylston Fire. All lanes of I-90 have been shut down in the area.

KITTITAS, Wash. -- A 58,000-acre fire is burning about seven miles east of Kittitas.

Officials are calling it the Boylston Fire and it is growing easterly in heavy wind. All lanes of I-90 have been shut down in the area. Westbound Traffic is being detoured onto Vantage Highway.

A level 3 evacuation notice for Auvil Fruit Company and Getty's Cove. A level 2 notice is also in place for Wanapum State Park. Deputies have contacted people in those areas to advise them of fire activity.

Washington Department of Natural Resources said they have sent engines, three airplanes and two helicopters to help fight the flames.

Authorities said the fire was originally burning in the median and the right shoulder.
