Brush fire in North Spokane threatened two homes

The fire was burning areas along the 1800 block of W. Liberty Avenue, near Ash Place and Oak Street.

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane fire and Spokane County fire crews have contained the two acre brush fire that started in North Spokane on Friday.

The fire was burning areas along the 1800 block of W. Liberty Avenue, near Ash Place and Oak Street. At least two homes were threatened. Fire crew were on scene for three hours to contain and mop up the fire.

One resident said she did not know her house was in danger of burning until a neighbor knocked on her front door to warn her about the flames. She said she saw the flames coming for her house.

"We didn't know if our house was OK," she said. "They told us that that we couldn't sit in our driveway. They told us that the side of the house, that (the fire) was not contained completely."

No injuries have been reported.
