PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University students are trying to keep up with all the news surrounding football coach Mike Leach.
Multiple outlets are reporting that Washington State University Head Coach Mike Leach was offered the head coach position at the University of Tennessee by former UT Athletics Director, John Currie, only to have the deal fall through.
One thing that remains the same at the WSU Pullman campus is the love student have for Coach Leach. Some students remain confident that Leach will stick around.
"There's a 100 percent chance he is not going to leave," said freshman Cody Cox.
Not a single student KREM 2 talked to said they would be happy to see Leach go. The consensus is he must stay.
"I hope he stays. I think he's a really awesome part of our fan base. Everybody is such a big fan of Leach himself. It's rare to care about your head coach that much. So I hope he stays," said junior Katie Passfort.
It is undeniable the love and support WSU students have for Coach Leach. Some Cougs even went as far as wanting to remind Leach what he means to WSU, begging him to keep his pirate ship anchored to Martin Stadium.
"Really appreciate what you do and would love to see you stay. You're part of the home here in Cougar nation," senior Logan Pruitt said.
But if it comes down to it, WSU will just have to take off it is eye patch and begin the search.
