SPOKANE, Wash.—A familiar face to many people in the Hillyard area shared his plans for the Ferris wheel in Hillyard.
Paul Hamilton grew up in the area, actually just right down the street from the Ferris wheel.
Hamilton said when he was growing up he was friends with the man who had owned the Ferris wheel for years.
Hamilton said he hoped to get the Ferris wheel functioning and painted and has big ideas for the home next to it.
"I'm going to make it into a bed and breakfast and so if you stay in the bed and breakfast, you can have your tea on top of the Ferris wheel, with a beautiful view of Mount Spokane and St. Michael's."
The Ferris wheel has been around since 1974, and the house next to it since the 1800s.
It has been featured in many Hillyard Festival Parades and is also the star of the movie and television show “Z Nation”.
Hamilton said that for now the house is occupied by his dogs.
