SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.—West Valley High School was on a modified lockdown Friday morning after a threat was made against a school with the same name in Yakima.

School officials said the lockdown is just an extra safety precaution and there is no threat toward the high school here in Spokane.

Spokane County Sheriff's Office officials said the received reports about the threat Friday morning before 7:00 a.m.

SCSO reported that the posts were similar to threats circulated over several social media platforms in the last few days and possibly experienced in Yakima County two days ago, but for the safety of students and staff, West Valley High School was placed on modified lockdown while Deputies continue to investigate.
