SPRAGUE, Wash. – Jered Gavin Bonneau, a Republican congressional candidate for Washington’s fifth district, is taking an unconventional approach to meet his constituents.

Bonneau announced a “Shooting with the Candidate” event via Twitter on Mar. 16.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m. at a shooting area near Fishtrap, Washington located at 7325 Lake Valley Loop Rd, Sprague, WA 99032.

Bonneau said he encourages constituents to bring their questions to the event.

"I never censor myself or others and enjoy talking with people. In this, I hope people will learn that I am a patriot, I love our Constitution and will always defend and uphold our founding documents. I am hoping that the people will bring their questions, comments and concerns to me, so that I may speak with them about those topics and through this I hope to get to know my supporters on a personal level," Bonneau wrote.

When asked about the inspiration for an event like this, Bonneau said, “I love our country, love our Constitution and love exercising our rights. I own firearms and enjoy shooting at the range with family and friends, and thought, ‘What a great way to have a blast and meet people.’”

Bonneau is looking to unseat Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rogers in the Republican primary. He claims he is trying to get to Congress to fight for liberty and strict adherence to the Constitution.
