SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane County deputies found two girls who went missing during recess at a Spokane Valley elementary school.

The 11 and 12-year-old girls were located around 4:45 p.m.

Spokane County Sheriff's Office Corporal Mark Gregory said just after 1 p.m., deputies responded to Ponderosa Elementary for a report of five young students who walked away from the school during recess.

Deputies and school officials located three of the children, but the two girls were still missing. 

After about three hours of searching, the girls were found safe.

The sheriff's office thanked everyone who called in tips about the missing girls.
