SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane fire crews responded to a fire at the Greentree Apartment Complex in Browne’s Addition Friday afternoon.

Spokane Fire Department Chief of Operations Mark John said crews arrived on scene and saw heavy smoke and fire on the third floor of the complex. Crews also saw residents quickly exiting the building as the fire continued to burn. All occupants escaped the complex with no reported injuries.

John said the fire was under control within 20 minutes. The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation. Investigators confirmed three apartments on the third floor were affected by the fire and deemed uninhabitable. The American Red Cross will be assisting the four adults who have been displaced.

John pointed out ventilation holes were a major feat for crews to dissipate the fire.
