SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane woman was awarded a $25,000 scholarship from Taco Bell.

Grace Ward was one of 10 consumers to receive a Live Mas Scholarship. Ward plans to use the scholarship to pursue her passion of filmmaking.

During her senior year of high school, Ward moved to Papua New Guinea with her family. She currently works as a media marketing officer for an NGO which helps people in remote places get access to health and education services.

Ward wants to use her filmmaking to bring a voice to people in indigenous communities where technology is lacking. She plans to attend the New York Film Academy to pursue an education and career in filmmaking, screenwriting, graphic design or photography.

The Taco Bell Foundation awarded $4.6 million in Live Mas Scholarships to 531 students and employees across the country. The scholarships are designed to help students pursue their unique passions. All the application requires is a 2-minute video describing what you love to do.
