A website is ranking Spokane as the No. 1 most affordable outdoorsy city.
Realtor.com cites Spokane’s affordable skiing and climbing scene at Mount Spokane as reasons for its placement, along with opportunities for adventure near the city.
According to the website, the median home list price is $295,100. The website also wrote that Spokane is packed with single-family homes with one- and two-car garages.
To pinpoint the best places for outdoor enthusiasts, the website started by looking at the 150 largest metropolitan areas with median home prices below $300,000.
It also included other criteria:
- Share of homes with outdoor patios, outdoor kitchens and decks
- Bicycle-friendliness rating
- Per capita kayaking, rafting and outdoor gear stores
- Number of campgrounds
- Share of restaurants with outdoor seating
- Per capita of conservation scientists and foresters
- Number of national parks in the state
- Percentage of residents who live within a 10-minute walk of a park
