SPOKANE, Wash. — It is one of the most common complaints we hear from people heading downtown: Finding a place to park is only getting more difficult.

But as they say---there's an app for that.

It's called "DriveWayz." It's like an AirBnB for your driveway. Hosts can decide when that space is open and charge for an hourly fee.

If you would like to host a parking space, the app walks you through a few steps to register. Select the type of parking, how many spaces, and the location.

Hosts can decide what days and times the space is available, and set an hourly rate that's within a certain price range for that area. All renters need to do is create an account by registering their vehicle.

Right now, the DriveWayz app is getting a lot of use in California. But Spokane residents can sign up now.

In fact, we talked to a resident in Browne's Addition who is open to the idea of renting out her driveway, or renting a space herself.

"I think it would be very beneficial for Spokane," Elise Boysen said.

Reece Barracks is the co-founder of DriveWayz. He got the idea after his own experience looking for parking.

"We were driving up and down one of the main streets in Boulder heading to a concert and couldn't find any parking spots," Barracks said. "Even though we were passing empty driveway after empty driveway. I thought to myself, I'd pay a few bucks to park here."

Barracks said they try to protect hosts from potential criminal activity by keeping the exact location of the parking space confidential until a driver officially rents the spot.
