Eight transmission structures were destroyed in Upriver Beacon Fire

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Power crews are working alongside firefighters at the Upriver Beacon Fire.

Avista and Inland Power crews are working to get all the lines back up and running.

Avista officials said some transmission structures burned in the fire. They said eight of their transmissions have to be rebuilt.

There has been a lot of damage to the power poles. Some are tilting and look like they are going to fall over and others have been significantly burned. Officials said hundreds of feet of lines have also fallen. Kyle Hasenoehrl with Inland Power explained a bit of the process he and his crews go through to get the power fixed.

“Came out, looked it over, crews worked until early hours trying to get meters back on. Now we're trying to pick up the last 24,” he said.

There are about 24 homes that still do not have power. They were working to fix those but had to stop due to safety reasons. Fire crews did not want them working in areas and they have not been cleared back in yet. Crews said as soon as they get the okay, they will be back working.
