Parking structure fire near Sacred Heart caused significant damage

The fire damaged the structure to the point that firefighters had to evacuate due to several partial ceiling collapses. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Crews worked to put out a large parking garage fire in Spokane Friday night near Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Just after 10 p.m. Friday night, the Spokane Fire Department responded to a reported fire in a parking garage at S. McClellan st. and S. Bernard St. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause.

Firefighters arrived to find a difficult to access, well-established fire on the third floor of the structure. Furniture and finish materials for the nearby under-construction hotel were stored there.

The fire damaged the structure to the point that firefighters had to evacuate due to several partial ceiling collapses. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
