City of Spokane pools closed due to poor air quality

City of Spokane pools close when the air quality index climbs above 150. They will reopen if it dips below that number.

SPOKANE, Wash. — City of Spokane pools are closed until further notice due to poor air quality.

Officials said the air quality is unhealthy when the index reaches 150. As of 2 p.m. on Monday, the air quality index is sitting above 176. The "unhealthy" range means everyone could begin to experience health effects and members of sensitive groups might experience more serious health effects.

If the air quality index reaches 200, the air quality will fall into the "very unhealthy" range.Air quality in North Idaho has also been downgraded to unhealthy.

The pools will reopen when the air quality index dips below 150.

City of Spokane Valley pools remain open as of 10 a.m. on Monday.

Spokane pools closed earlier this month due to poor air quality.

There are more than 30 wildfires burning in our region. Additional smoke is drifting into our area from Canadian and Cascade wildfires.
