SPOKANE, Wash. — Multiple highways in Eastern Washington were closed Sunday morning after a winter storm left snow and high winds in the area.

SR 27 northbound between Tekoa and Waverly in Whitman County closed Saturday afternoon and remained closed into Sunday after a winter storm caused snow drifts, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation website.

There are also 35 miles of SR 24 closed in both directions near Othello due to multiple collisions and poor visibility, according to the website.

Twelve highways are closed in the Tri-Cities and Yakima Valley areas as of Sunday morning, including roads leading in and out of Richland, according to the WSDOT.
