900-plus dogs competing in show at Kootenai County Fairgrounds

There will even be a Puppy Competition for dogs younger than six months old!

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Hundreds of dogs are competing in North Idaho during an annual all-breeds dog show at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.

Dogs and their owners will showcase their skills at the Coeur d’Alene Dog Fanciers Dog Show on Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The fairgrounds are located at 4060 N. Government Way.

More than 900 dogs and 100 breeds are competing on Monday.

Admission is free apart from a $5 parking fee.

Spectators can watch the judging of various dog breeds; young owner-handlers compete in the Junior Showmanship Competition; owner-handlers compete for a spot in the finals at the American Kennel Club National Championship held in Orland in December; obedience and rally trials; puppies younger than six months old competing in the Puppy Competition.

A Tennis Ball Raffle priced at $5 per entry will benefit the acquisition of an American Kennel Club pet disaster relief trailer for Kootenai County. The trailers stocked with essential supplies can temporarily house at least 65 pets during critical days after a disaster.

Dogs that are not entered in competition are not permitted on show grounds.
