PEND OREILLE CO., Wash – Three teenagers suffered minor injuries in a boat crash on the Pend Oreille River on Monday.
Deputies from the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a boating collision near Wagon Wheel Road. It was reported a towable tube being pulled by a boat had hit a dock on the river.
According to the sheriff’s office, the initial investigation revealed the operator of the boat, 69-year-old Robert Rockser, was pulling 18-year-old Tatum Holestine, 18-year-old Kayle Bowers, and a 15-year-old boy on the tube.
Rockser turned the boat too close to shore causing the tubers to swing into a dock which ejected the teenagers off the tube.
The 15-year-old was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Deputies said all three tubers only sustained bruises and scratches, and it did not appear that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
