Boise barber looks to take his shop on the road, help people in need

Brady Riach has been helping Boise homeless population by providing free haircuts. Now he wants to expand his reach, and help even more people.

BOISE - A Boise barber has started a campaign to make a big difference in our community. He wants to take his barber shop on the road, and help people in need.

Brady Riach set up shop at Interfaith Sanctuary - a homeless shelter in Boise.

He's been a barber for about eight years, and in that time he noticed a need in the homeless community.

"If I can help one person out by simply giving time to make them feel good, look good, give them more of a positive vibe, make them do better for themselves, that's all I'm trying to do," he said.

Brady came up with an idea, a dream really, to reach even more people with free cuts.

"The mobile barber station, that's kind of what inspired me with that whole idea," he said.

Brady's barber shop on wheels is a spendy endeavor, so he started an online fundraiser to collect money for the project.

"It will allow me a lot more access to come to places like the sanctuary here," he said. "Not only do that here, but also do that all over other places in the Treasure Valley."

Brady isn't just trying to help the Treasure Valley's homeless population.

"It's your every day people that are needing a helping hand, it's not just the homeless, it's vets with PTSD, stuff like that that would also enable us to help them out," he said. "Just physically, mentally have a hard time out in public."

Brady is just getting started, but he's hoping his dream of having a mobile shop will one day be a reality.

"Hopefully get the word out enough, inspire people enough to accomplish that goal," he said.
