OROVILLE, Wash — A 14-year-old boy is accused of killing his father in Oroville, Washington Tuesday afternoon.
Okanogan County Sheriff Tony Hawley said deputies responded to a home on Emery Road at about 12:30 p.m.
Hawley said he believes Ben Shaw, 14, shot and killed his 47-year-old father Terry Shaw.
Ben Shaw was arrested and charged with first degree murder and juvenile in possession of a firearm.
Police previously responded to reports of violence involving Ben and his father in the summer of 2018. Hawley said Ben choked Terry but no charges were filed.
Family friends told KREM 2 that Terry was a kind man and a good father. They said his other two children are devastated.
Oroville Police Chief Todd Hill said the incident is still under investigation.
