OMAK, Wash. – A man in Okanogan County is facing arson and murder charges after emergency responders found a body inside a house that was apparently set ablaze.
Officials said Jared Fudge, 27, now faces first degree murder and arson charges, with more charges possible. A witness spotted Fudge running from the scene and was located and questioned by police.
Officials said they were called to a report of a home on fire early Friday morning at 248 Omak River Road. During the course of fighting the fire, a body was located inside the home.
The victim has not yet been identified, nor has the medical examiner determined the cause of death and the case is still under investigation.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family who had their loved one ripped from their lives today,” officials said in a release. “We are also indebted the Detectives, Deputies and local Law Enforcement whose quick action and outstanding work located and booked into jail the suspect in this senseless murder.”
