KREM 2 was honored on Saturday, June 8, with an Emmy during the 56th Northwest Regional Emmy Awards Gala.

KREM 2 Anchor and Reporter, Jane McCarthy, and Photojournalist, Brett Allbery, won the Emmy in the Sports – News Story/Series category for their report, “Bouncing Back,” the story of Sam Dowd.

Sam is a former Gonzaga Prep and Idaho State basketball player whose life story includes a remarkable comeback from homelessness.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this Emmy award with Brett Allbery for our story on the amazing life of Sam Dowd. He is the inspiration and we are merely the storytellers,” said Jane McCarthy.

“We are thankful to work at a station that allows us the time to tell these kinds of inspirational stories,” said Brett Allbery.
