COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho --- Wedding takes a hit after venue burns down in Coeur d’Alene, but the bride said it was not the only fiasco leading up to the wedding.
A fire destroyed the iconic barn at Settlers Creek venue in Couer d’Alene Tuesday night. The flames also damaged nearby buildings and scorched about 30 acres of land.
After the fire many people were interested in what would happen to the weddings planned there later this summer.
Becky Fraser and her fiancé picked Settlers Creek for their September wedding and put down a $5,000 deposit. When Fraser heard about the fire she was completely devastated. She said the venue is all inclusive, which means the ceremony, food and drink is taken care of by Settlers Creek.
The happy couple said they picked this venue because they are planning a rustic themed wedding, and said the location of Settlers Creek and the grounds fit their vision perfectly.
Fraser said her heart goes out to the owners of Settlers Creek, because she said while it is just one special day for her, it is the livelihood of the owners. She is currently planning her wedding from San Diego, but is grateful she has her mom and sister helping her in Spokane.
The event planner at Settlers Creek sent Fraser an email Tuesday night that said they will contact her soon with the options they have available. Fraser said they already had found a few other venues with that date open, in case it comes down to it. She wants to wait and see what can be worked out at Settlers Creek.
When we talked to Fraser Wednesday, she was very calm. She said that’s because she has already run into several wedding planning problems so far.
"Our photographers stuff go stolen awhile ago--that was the start of it. Then the company that I bought my dress from went bankrupt and closed on it so my dress went missing for a couple of days. But we were able to find that and then this all happened. So it's just one more thing on the list," said Fraser.
