Warden Police arrest substitute school teacher in voyeurism, child porn investigation

Grant County Sheriff's Office officials said law enforcement started investigating after police got a complaint from a nine-year-old Warden school student that Leavitt had used his phone to video record under her dress in her classroom

WARDEN, Wash.—A man who was a substitute teacher at the Warden Schools was arrested Thursday morning for voyeurism.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office officials said law enforcement started investigating Michael S. Leavitt in October 2017 after police got a complaint from a nine-year-old Warden school student that Leavitt had used his phone to video record under her dress in her classroom.

GCSO authorities said police seized Leavitt’s phone and then retained a search warrant. A forensic investigation gave evidence that Leavitt had viewed child porn on his phone, and evidence that he had deleted files from his phone, according to GCSO reports.

A second search warrant was obtained to examine Leavitt’s iCloud account, reports said.

GCSO officials said the iCloud account confirmed the nine-year-old victim’s statement and videos depicting voyeurism were obtained. A recording of a second victim in the same classroom was also discovered.

GCSO authorities said the FBI is now investigating possible possession and production of child porn by Leavitt.
