Two killed in crashes on icy roads in Grant County

Grant County Sheriff's officials said around 8 p.m. Thursday, first responders were called to Roads 5 and T-Northwest near Quincy for a one car crash.

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — Two people died in crashes in Grant County due to icy roads over the holiday weekend.

Grant County Sheriff’s officials said around 8 p.m. Thursday, first responders were called to Roads 5 and T-Northwest near Quincy for a one car crash. Authorities said Carrie Bock, 39, was driving west on Road 5 when she lost control on the icy road. Her SUV struck and slid down the top of the guardrail, rolled over and came to a rest on its top in the irrigation canal, officials said.

Authorities said her passenger, Karen Bock, 73, died at the scene and Carrie sustained serious injuries. She was taken to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital then later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Officials said two other passengers, 19-year-old Quynton Hamilton and a 7 year old boy, had non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center.

Everyone in the car was wearing a seatbelt and sheriff’s officials said speed was the cause of the crash.

Then, near Royal City early Friday morning, Autumn Kynaston, 31, was killed in a roll over crash just five miles south of I-90, sheriff’s officials said.

Kynaston was driving south on Dodson Road when she lost control on the icy road and her SUV rolled three and a half times before coming to rest in a field.

Authorities said she was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. She died at the scene.

Sheriff’s officials said excessive speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
