GRANT CO., Wash. -- Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man in Moses Lake who attempted to elude police by motorcycle and on foot Friday afternoon.

Robert Gwinn, 38, of Moses Lake had a prior warrant for eluding police around 3:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect initiated a pursuit that police terminated for the safety of the public, as the suspect entered the City of Moses Lake extremely recklessly, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies later searched for the suspect in Cascade Valley. When he was found in the area of Lee Dr. and NE Stanley, the suspect attempted to evade arrest on his motorcycle but lost control and crashed, the sheriff’s office said.

The suspect then fled on foot, but was apprehended around 5:30 p.m. without further incident, according to the sheriff’s office. The sheriff said they received a lot of help in finding the suspect from community members.

“A great deal of thanks is owed to community members who called in numerous tips,” Sheriff Tom Jones said. “Innocent people were in danger just being in this suspect’s path, including our own law enforcement officers. I am very pleased with this arrest. Great job, all, for identifying the suspect leading to the successful arrest with no one getting hurt.”
