Moses Lake man arrested for trying to assault deputies

Suspect wanted for an outstanding misdemeanor led Grant Co. sheriff's deputies on high-speed chase then barricaded himself in his home.

MOSES LAKE, WASH — A Moses Lake man was taken into custody Friday afternoon after a high-speed chase with deputies then barricading himself in his home.

Officials said Robert Gwinn, 38, pulled over for deputies, but then led them on a five-mile chase at speeds near 100 mph. He aimed his vehicle at deputies twice who were setting up spike strips, deputies said.

Authorities said Gwinn was wanted for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was going to be served with a protection order. Deputies said he abandoned his car and barricaded himself inside his home. After about an hour, he came out and surrendered.

He is being held in the Grant County Jail for outstanding warrant and attempted assault on police officers.
