Boyds Fire in Kettle Falls destroys two homes, several structures

The Boyds Fire burning in Ferry County, west of Kettle Falls and the Columbia River, has burned roughly 3,000 acres and is two percent contained as of Sunday morning. Two homes and several out buildings have been lost.

FERRY COUNTY, Wash. — The Boyds Fire burning in Ferry County, west of Kettle Falls and the Columbia River, destroyed two homes and several outbuildings as of Sunday morning.

The fire burned roughly 3,000 acres and is two percent contained as of Sunday morning, according to officials.

Level 3 evacuations are in place from Highway 20, west of the Columbia river to Deadman Creek Road. Level 2 evacuations have been issued from Deadman Creek to Matson Creek Road.

Officials said Bonniville Power transmission lines and Kettle Falls Rail tracks are within the fire perimeter.

Fire crews are working to contain the fire on Sunday.

A Red Cross evacuation center is open and located at Kettle Falls High School.

Road closures include Highway 20 and Inchelium Highway north of Sherman Creek Orchards. Highway 395 from Barney's junction to Boyd's will be one lane.
