BONNER COUNTY, Idaho – Bonner County officials confirmed a 2.6 earthquake hit near Sandpoint on Monday around 7:00 a.m.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the epicenter was at Lake Pend Oreille.

A 3.4 earthquake hit the same spot on Nov. 23rd, a week before. Reports came into KREM 2 from Ponderay, Sagle, Sandpoint and Spokane about feeling the earthquake.

An expert from the University of Washington said the preliminary reading was for 3.8 but was downgraded once they located the epicenter at Lake Pend Oreille.
