SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Police Department Reserve Officers conducted a bike sting on Wednesday that led to three arrests for theft and one additional drug charge.

The unpaid reserve officers volunteered their time to lead the sting in the area of Mission Avenue and Hamilton Street. This area has had numerous thefts, burglaries, drug calls and assaults in recent weeks and months, according to law enforcement officials.

Shortly after the officers set up the bike sting, 34-year-old Jonathan Trefz rode up to the area on his bike. He then parked his bike and stole the more expensive bike bait, officials said. He was arrested and admitted he took the bike to sell it.

Officers set up the bait bike again a short time later. Victoria Langlois, 25, and 35-year-old Erick Garber had a discussion about the bike. Langlois acted as a lookout while Garber attempted to ride away on the bike. Both females were taken into custody.

Both females had warrants for their arrest, which included theft.

All three people were charged with 2nd degree felony theft and Langlois was also charged with possession of Methamphetamine.
