Royal City shooting: Son allegedly shot father in car while mother was driving

Jesus Torres Flores, 58, was found dead inside a car on the family home's driveway early Wednesday morning, according to the sheriff's office. Jonathan Torres, 21, is in custody.

ROYAL CITY, Wash. — A Royal City man is in custody after allegedly shooting his father in the head on Wednesday morning, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

Jesus Torres Flores, 58, was found dead inside a car on the family home's driveway early Wednesday morning, according to the sheriff's office. Jonathan Torres, 21, is in custody.

Detectives said Jonathan Torres was riding in the back seat of a vehicle driven by his mother while his father sat in the front seat.

Detectives said Jonathan Torres allegedly shot his father in the head while the vehicle was traveling somewhere near the O'Sullivan Reservoir. His mother then drove to the family's Royal City home and called 911.

Jonathan Torres and his brother Jesus were recently identified for involvement in a Royal City shooting that injured one person on Nov. 14. Jesus turned himself in but Jonathan had been on the run from authorities since then, according to the sheriff's office.

Jonathan Torres is charged with first-degree murder, according to the sheriff's office.

This is an ongoing investigation.
