AURORA, Colo. — Officers arrested a suspect in the deadly shooting of an 18-year-old man in Aurora Sunday night.
Abel Vargas, 18, faces a charge of manslaughter after being taken into custody, according to the Aurora Police Department (APD),
APD said officers responded at 9:25 p.m. on Sunday to a shooting in the 13000 block of East 33rd Place.
When police arrived they said investigators learned the 18-year-old victim was transported by a friend to the hospital with gunshot wounds, where he was pronounced dead.
APD said investigators learned the victim and Vargas knew each other, and were both at the East 33rd Avenue scene when Vargas shot the victim while showing him an AR-15 rifle.
The victim will be identified by the Adams County Coroner's Office following an autopsy and notification of next of kin.
