KREM Cares Big Book Giveaway 2021

KREM 2 and our partners are excited to give away books and snacks! Here's what you need to know about the Big Book Giveaway.

KREM Cares Big Book Giveaway FAQ Sheet

What is it? The Big Book Giveaway was started last year to increase access to books during the pandemic (It was called 'Sweet Reads'). KREM 2 decided to continue the tradition and invite all kids K-6th grade to come and get a book and a snack. KREM 2 is committed to supporting our local kids and families. Each child is eligible for one age-appropriate book (while supplies last) and a snack.

When is the KREM Cares Big Book Giveaway? October 13th, 2021

Where is the KREM Cares Big Book Giveaway? Spokane County Fair & Expo Center Parking Lot: 404 N. Havana St.

What time is the KREM Cars Big Book Giveaway? 3pm-6pm or until books run out.

Who can come to the KREM Cares Big Book Giveaway? All families are invited to the drive-by event. We only have books for ages K-6th grade but older kids can certainly have a snack!

How are book distributed? This is a drive-by only event. For safety concerns, we ask that people remain in their cars at all times. Volunteers will take the ages of the children and deliver the book(s) and snacks to your door.

Do I need to have the kids in the car with me? No. Whether your a parent, grandparent, neighbor, or a super cool aunt or uncle you can come and get a book (s) for the children in your life. We will work hard to provide one book per child (ages K-6th grade).

If I'm a teacher, can I get books for my whole class? We will do our best but can't promise that we'll be able to provide enough books for teachers during the drive-up event. If the books are available, we will happily provide books to our local teachers.

Do I need to wear a mask? We want to keep our volunteers safe. We ask that when people approach your car to deliver books that you put on a mask.

Who paid for the books? Glad you asked! Our friends at Chimney Rock Mortgage purchased the books. They were recommended by Scholastic and vetted by our local friends at Communities In Schools Spokane.

Who provided the snacks? Nom Nom partnered with KREM 2 this year to provide our kids some fun snacks during the drive-by. In addition, the folks from Costco will be handing out snacks as well.
