SPOKANE, Wash. — Award-winning comedy icons, writers, actors and RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni BenDeLaCreme and Jinkx Monsoon are coming to Spokane this holiday season.
The duo will bring their musical comedy, "The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show" to the First Interstate Center for the Arts on December 27.
Throughout the show’s 7-year history, Jinkx and DeLa have traveled through time via ‘A Christmas Carol’ with a wacky multiverse twist, defeated AI overlords trying to replace them, battled it out to define the meaning of Christmas and explored post-pandemic depression with a talking peppermint candy puppet.
There's no guessing what wild and unexpected directions this year's show will take audiences, but fans can expect another year of over-the-top camp spectacle, side-splitting gags, brand-new songs, heartfelt storytelling, thrilling dance numbers and iconic costumes.
Tickets to the show start at $52.50 and can be found on the First Interstate Center for the Arts website or at the Jinkx and DeLa website.
“As another year defiantly slaps the 'well at least it can’t get any worse' out of our mouths, we need ways not just to cope, but to gather strength. Are there any tools greater than comedy, sequins and song? Yeah absolutely. But those are the gifts Jinkx and I have to share, and we hope you’ll share them with us," said BenDeLaCreme. "All the lights and songs and trappings of the holidays were created to help get us through the coldest darkest part of the year. To keep our spirits bright as we steel ourselves for the winter to come and remember that spring will return once again. In a world that feels increasingly dark, please come make some light with us. We will gladly share our warmth.”
This year's show marks the dynamic duo’s 6th live holiday show production. Since its inception, BenDeLaCreme and Monsoon have written a new holiday show every year and are the sole writers of the production.
“I seriously can’t believe it’s the holidays again already. Who has time to plan festivities when the world is bananas? What are we supposed to do when everything feels so chaotic? Well, what DeLa and I do is put on a show," said Monsoon. "The holidays are upon us whether we like it or not but the Jinkx and DeLa team are well equipped to bring you the holiday cheer and warm feeling of community we all need in the harsh winter months. So vote and get your tickets when it’s time to do each of those things!”
The 2023 iteration of "The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show" won the 2024 Queerty Award for “Best Live Theatre." The tour led to appearances on The Today Show and a profile featured on the cover of The New York Times Pop section. Gay Times hailed it as “undoubtedly their biggest - and best - production yet” and the show is praised for creating a safe haven for LGBTQ+ people by The Hollywood Reporter and Newsweek.
