Grangeville to Darby Montana - the hard way! The scenic way!
Taking an expedition From Grangeville to Darby Montana through the Frank Church Wilderness- the McGruder Corridor on October 7th 2011. Found 4" of snow at 6300' and 8" higher at 7920'. Took about 10 hours. We stayed the night at Poet Creek elvation approx 4000' - no snow but some rain. Came across a BMW motorbike abandoned at about 7850' on a steep grade but no biker. Had to move it over to get around the ONE LANE Road. Saw lots of wildlife. Great time and very peaceful. you can also get up to a few lookouts and see for a thousand miles. Pretty spectacular.
