I am definitely a cat lover. I love my cats, and other people's cats. However, I understand that not everyone feels the same way as I do about them. What I do not understand is the rules for cats as far as trespassing.
My cats do love lounging around inside and cuddling up to anyone on the couch, but more than anything, they like to be outside. As we all know, you can't put a leash on a cat to walk them, they will easily jump over any fence you put up to keep them in your yard, and they like to adventure.
It has come to my understanding that my friends cat has been impounded three times by their neighbor in the SCC area. The neighbor has been trapping the cats and then taking them right to Spokanimal. Now, my friend loves their cat so they pay the $45 fine every time. (This cat was also microchipped.) The paper attached to the cage that my friend found him in even stated that he was trapped, and gave an intersection for location. That house is directly behind my friends house.
We do not know for sure, but just warning for those in the SCC area to keep an eye on their cats. Even if those people don't like cats, they wouldn't keep coming to their house if they would stop putting cat food all over their yard to lure them in.
Also, maybe proof of address could be shown at animal shelters, so that if the location found is on the same street, then a price could be reduced or waived. Especially if it's licensed, microchip and all.
