SPOKANE VALLEY -- The Valley Christian High School football team's homecoming game Friday night will be a tribute to a lost classmate, teammate and friend.
The game comes a month after Valley Christian player Drew Swank died of a brain injury after a hit on the field.
Students, friends, and family members have all been working hard to raise as much money as they can for the Swank family's medical bills.
Friday night before the game, there will be an auction of sports memorabilia as well as a snowmobile, a few rounds of golf and tickets to watch the Gonzaga men's basketball team.
All the proceeds from the auction at the football field, which begins at 3:00 P.M., will go to the Swank family. Sports Information Officer Chad Kimberley says this has been an extremely difficult experience for everyone, but the students are standing united and strong.
Some of the ticket sales from the Homecoming game will go to help the family with medical bills as well.
Swank's jersey, number 15, will be retired at the game.
