SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash-- Neighbors watched a small creek near Shady Slope and Little Spokane Drive rise over its banks as snow melt-off and rain created flooding in parts of the region.
Neighbors said the flooding was the worst they had seen in 15 years. One neighbor, Drew Swanson, said he noticed the flooding on Tuesday.
Swanson said the creek that runs passed his tree and would normally be three feet wide, had doubled in size.
“Everything’s flooded right now… it’s a little scary,” Swanson said.
Swanson said he asked the county to bring sandbags in case waters continued rising and was told the flooding would need to reach federal disaster levels before that would happen.
Meanwhile, Swanson was left waiting and hoping for the best.
