SPOKANE, Wash. -- KREM 2 News partnered with Washington's beef community for Tom's Barbeque Forecast this year.
"We partnered with Washington Beef, Beef Council, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Store Promotion to raise $20,000 and 38,000 meals given away," said Mike Shirts of Rosauers.
Local farmers, ranchers, and Rosauers staff volunteered at the Second Harvest Mobile Food bank in Northeast Spokane on Thursday. They handed out beef roasts, fresh produce, and bread products to 250 needy families and seniors.
"This is awesome," said Dale Howry, a food recipient, "and I can't believe it, you got me almost in tears right now!"
All of the money for the beef came from the Summer Beef Counts Program and Rosauers donated ten cents per pound of beef sold.
