SPOKANE VALLEY-- One of the thousands of lightning strikes Monday night shredded a tree just a few feet away from some kids playing outside in Spokane Valley.
The incident occurred near 2nd and Progress. Lighting stripped the bark off a tree and one kid was standing extremely close when it struck.
Last night around 8p.m. three boys were out riding their skateboard when they decided to take a break. Lighting hit a tree right next to 12-year-old Evan West, his twin brother Dean and friend Chris Jarvis. The boys sprinted for the garage.
The twins’ mother, Debbie, heard the lighting strike from indoor. That lightning strike also damaged some home electronics, including killing the neighbors TV across the street.
As lightning strikes blanketed the region, a man in Post Falls recorded posted video to YouTube. He believed lightning hit his home and caused a light bulb to explode, killing his Beata fish.
Linda McGill lives in the Valley near Dishman Hills. Lightning hit her tree, blew limbs every direction, and tripped circuit breakers in her home. She attempted to reset the breakers and said, “fire blew and it popped into my hand and I said, you know, I think that is just enough for me.”
