ASOTIN, Wash.—Authorities called in more crews Friday to help fight a fire growing in size near Asotin, Washington.

Crews said an additional 30 firefighters arrived to help fight the blaze.  Experts also called in a helicopter to help battle the fire on Friday.

The Weissenfels Ridge Fire grew to nearly 1,000 acres on Snake River Road.

Firefighters said limited roads and steep terrain make it difficult to extinguish the flames.  The first started Thursday and is burning mainly grass and wheat fields.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
