Katie Boer is an award winning journalist who joined the KREM 2 news team in April 2012 as the morning weather anchor, reporter. She was born and raised in Seattle, but lived for several years in Spokane during her childhood and attended grade school at Northwest Christian.
Before coming to KREM 2, Katie worked as a weather anchor and reporter at KVAL in Eugene. She's a hands-on journalist known around Western Oregon for her extreme stunts, like skydiving, lawn mower racing and scuba diving with nearly 200 sharks for her "Extreme Katie" sports segment. In 2010, the Associated Press recognized her reporting of the University of Oregon riots with First Place for Continuing Coverage. Prior to KVAL, Katie worked as an anchor/reporter at KPIC in Roseburg.
Katie graduated from Biola University in southern California in two and a half years with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
She’s a former ball girl for the Seattle Mariners and an avid sports fan. Katie also spends her time at the gym, biking, reading and nearly burning down her kitchen attempting to cook.
