Solo climber dies in 1,000 foot fall on Mount Hood

A solo climber who reportedly fell about 1,000 feet shortly after 5 a.m. at the Hogsback portion of the ascent from Timberline Lodge to the summit of Mount Hood was dead when rescue crews arrived at the site.
